10 SECRETS TO WEDDING DAY BEAUTY
10 SECRETS TO WEDDING DAY MAKEUP BEAUTY
The secret to wedding day makeup beauty is to prepare in advance and plan well.
I believe it’s really important to not only look very special, but also ‘feel’ special. Brides always look beautiful when they are glowing from within. When it comes to wedding day makeup, here are my top 10 SECRETS WEDDING MAKEUP considerations and little tricks to ensure your day goes smoothly and you maintain your beautiful look.
My first top 5 considerations
- Start a skincare routine early and invest in regular facials as much as your budget allows.
- Work out a little more than usual. There is nothing like exercise to get the circulation going and enhance the glow of your skin. There are added bonuses of improving your overall energy and a boost to your confidence.
- Avoid too much suntanning without block out protection. Don’t want tan lines either! You are better off faking it.
- Go easy with makeup shimmers. In small doses, shimmers will add a touch of radiance, but too much will create a ‘showgirl’ look. Keep it subtle and elegant.
- Highlight the eyes, regardless of the makeup look. My favourite is a soft, smokey, eyeliner, thickening the appearance of the lashes & defining the eye shape.
My second top 5 considerations
- Shape your eyebrows at least a week before the big day, especially if you wax. Give your skin enough time to adjust from any redness.
- Decide on a look that you are comfortable wearing. Keep in mind that your wedding day makeup should maintain an air of elegance and timelessness. You still want to look and feel like yourself, but a more glamorous version of your everyday self. Experiment with dramatic trends another time.
- Apply your makeup a little heavier than you normally would for your every-day look. You will lose about 15% of the detail in flash photography, so it’s worth that little extra.
- Layer your products so it will be long-lasting, with little maintenance which still looks great in person and for photos.
- Take a touch up bag with you and include essential items, like blot papers, compact powder and lip product.
Wedding day makeup is so important and can mean the difference between feeling confident and looking radiant or not and who wants the latter? Your wedding day is stressful enough and you need to ensure that your makeup look and your photograph results are not one of those stressful elements.
Hire an experienced makeup artist who has managed many, many weddings and who has the talent and experience of makeup work to ensure any stress has been dealt with and negated.
